Someday (DVD) (End) (English Subtitled) (OCN TV Drama) (US Version)

Someday (DVD) (End) (English Subtitled) (OCN TV Drama) (US Version)

$99.99  $29.99

The first Korean drama to integrate animation and live action, Someday is like no drama that has come before. Through outstanding cinematography and visual design, this groundbreaking drama beautifully lenses Korea's contemporary urban landscape and peeks into the moody, imaginative world of a comic book artist. Written by movie screenwriter Kim Hee Jae ( Hanbando ), Someday represents another landmark work from Yellow Film, whose other 2006 titles include the critically acclaimed Alone in Love and Freeze. A "movie-like drama" with top-end production values, Someday features film star Bae Du Na ( The Host ), drama favorite Kim Min Joon ( Lovers in Prague, Damo ), and rising stars Lee Jin Wook and Oh Yoon Ah from Alone in Love. In contrast with its fanciful images, the drama stays candid and grounded in its exploration of modern relationships and romance, presenting a story that is both painfully realistic and longingly lighthearted. Although Korean-Japanese cartoonist Yamaguchi Hana (Bae Du Na) has found great success with her romantic comic books, she herself doesn't believe in love. Raised by her grandmother, she is content to live in her own world of writing and drawing, but one day her comic gets discontinued. Unceremoniously thrown back into the real world, Hana travels to Seoul where she meets Kim Seok Man (Lee Jin Wook), a kind-hearted private investigator with a tragic past, and Go Jin Pyo (Kim Min Joon), a doctor and ardent comic fan who observes life with a detached eye. As Hana retraces the tragic love story of her elderly neighbors with Seok Man and Jin Pyo's help, she realizes that she herself is experiencing love for the first time. This edition comes with making of, interviews, trailers, music video, and other special features. The following beloved Korean TV series are already available at YesAsia.com: Jumong (Vol. 1) (US Version - English subtitles) Spring Waltz (US Version - English subtitles) Over the Rainbow (US Version - English subtitles) Freeze (US Version - English subtitles) Alone in Love (US Version - English subtitles)

Epik High Vol. 5 - Pieces, Part One

Epik High Vol. 5 - Pieces, Part One

$18.99  $13.99

Undoubtedly, Epik High reigned as the kings of hip-hop in 2007. Their fourth album Remapping The Human Soul snatched two of the year's most prestigious awards: Best Hip-hop Group at the Korean Music Awards and Best Album of the Year at the Mnet KM Music Festival. Coming back from such a remarkable year wasn't an easy task for the trio. However, to echo member Tablo's recent remark, their fifth release Pieces was inspired by a dream - perhaps, a divine calling. Sounding very philosophical and introspective, their latest album talks about the shattering of one's heart. This time the hip-hop trio fuses in a variety of musical genres like electronic, lounge, rock, and classic with their signature hip-hop tunes, wheeling out some of their most unique sounds ever. The hidden meaning behind the title of the principal song One originates from the word "redemption". Rolling out dreamy sequences in combination with upbeat melodies, the song appeals with a double offering of hope and sadness.

She's outspoken, obstinate, and fed up with society's expectations of her. Her name is Kim Sam-Soon, and she's Korea's unlikely sweetheart! Thanks to its everywoman protagonist, My Lovely Sam-Soon (a.k.a. My Name is Kim Sam-Soon ) has been billed as Korea's answer to Bridget Jones. Kim Sam-Soon (Kim Sun Ah, who gained 15 pounds for the role) is a Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef who doesn't conform to the stereotype of the typical K-Drama Cinderella. Sam-Soon won't let men push her around, will eat and sleep her way out of a depression, and could care less how other people see her. When Sam-Soon loses her job on Christmas Eve, her problems are just beginning. She spots her boyfriend going into a hotel with another woman. At first she wants to charge right in there and confront him, but instead decides to wait for him to come out. She plans on dumping him in front of everybody, but when he finally does materialize, Sam-Soon breaks down and begs him not to leave her for the other woman. Realizing she has made a fool of herself in public she runs to the bathroom, but accidentally goes into the men's room. Hyun Jin-Hun (Hyun Bin), on a blind date he has no desire to go through with, walks in on Sam-Soon, embarrassing her even more! But Jin-Hun turns out to be Sam-Soon's future employer - in more ways than one. He's a rich restaurant owner who hires Sam-Soon, not only to be a chef, but also to be his pretend girlfriend! So begins a series of surprising and touching events that would try the emotions of any normal woman. But this is no normal woman - this is Kim Sam-Soon! There's probably no better choice than Yen for the headlining role of a hunted Jinyiwei commander, as the film offers plenty of opportunities for the martial arts superstar to flex his muscles. With Gallen Lo, Felix Wong, Sunny Chan, Nick Cheung, Amy Kwok, Kathy Chow, Ada Choi, Jessica Hsuan, Paul Chun, Suet Nei, and Melissa Ng onboard, the star-studded cast assembled for the TVB grand production Secret of the Heart is one that can hardly be surpassed. Producer Jonathan Chik ( Cold Blood Warm Heart, At the Threshold of an Era ) is known for his sophisticatedly crafted family infighting sagas, and the 62-episode drama has rightfully been considered one of the best of its kind thanks to its gripping narrative and attractive actors. Secret of the Heart swept the 1998 TVB Anniversary Awards with Gallen Lo and Ada Choi crowned My Favorite Actor and Actress, respectively, and Nick Cheung winning Best Improvement Award. It also dominated the viewership ratings during its initial run; in fact, even the recent late-night re-run on TVB still posted impressive ratings. Kam Leung Wan (Nick Cheung) grew up as the only son to airline magnate Kam Shu Pui (Paul Chun). But when it is revealed that his best friend Ching Ka Hung (Sunny Chan) is actually his half-brother and Pui's real son, Wan would stop at nothing to keep hold of what he has got, even if that means getting rid of Hung and anyone that stands in his way. Meanwhile, Hung's eldest sister Ka Ming (Amy Kwok) loses her life savings to her gambler boyfriend Cheuk Sheung Man (Gallen Lo). She later marries Pui's younger brother Shu Sang (Felix Wong), but her sister Ka Wai (Kathy Chow) falls in love with Sang secretly and even gets pregnant with his baby.

Jumong Vol. 1 of 4 (English Subtitled) (MBC TV Drama) (US Version)

Jumong Vol. 1 of 4 (English Subtitled) (MBC TV Drama) (US Version)

$89.99  $34.99

MBC's hugely popular Jumong is the first of a wave of Korean historical dramas dealing with the Goguryeo Dynasty (approximately 37 BC-AD 668). Written by veteran Choi Wan Gyu ( Hur Jun, Sang Do, and All In ) and Jung Hyung Soo ( Damo ), Jumong is one of Korea's most impressive and popular historical dramas. It dominated television screens during its broadcast, attracting viewership ratings of over 40% in Korea. Jumong is the name of the legendary founder of Goguryeo, King Dongmyeongseong. The story starts with the conflict between Gojoseon, an ancient Korean kingdom, and Han Chinese forces, eventually leading to a fragmented Korean Peninsula. Hero-in-the-making Jumong (Song Il Kook, Emperor of the Sea ) is born in this time of chaos and struggle in the little independent state of Buyeo. He quickly finds himself the most unlikely of princes and the victim of a rivalry with his brother Dae So (Kim Seung Soo, A Million Roses ). He is forced to choose between the boyish charm of young merchant So Seo No (Han Hye Jin; Be Strong, Geum Soon! ) and the innocent smile of Bu Yeong (Im So Young), a servant he's known for years. Other than chronicling Jumong's slow coming-of-age path, the first part of Jumong also deals with the touchy relationship between Buyeo and the Han, with King Geum Wa (Chun Kwang Ryul, Hur Jun ) torn between loyalty to his rebel friend Hae Mo Su (Hur Jun Ho, Silmido ) and the fate of his nation. This volume comes with a 28-page full-color Reference Guide (Part 1) containing cast and character profiles, Jumong glossary, and a short guide to Korean history. Gallants (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)

$16.99

Produced by actor Gordon Lam and Andy Lau's Focus Films, Derek Kwok and Clement Cheng's Gallants is an entertaining tribute film that revives old-school Hong Kong martial arts action in a 21st century context. Eschewing the new trend of cultural-based heroism defining contemporary Chinese action films, Gallants is a fun action-comedy about the old versus the new and the simple joys of getting into a good fight. The film features an eclectic mix of actors from two generations, with Shaw Brothers veteran Chen Kuan Tai, Bruce Leung, and a scene-stealing Teddy Robin leading the old, while Wong Yau Nam ( Just One Look ), MC Jin, and JJ Jia ( La Lingerie ) represent the new. Also with spectacular action choreography by Yuen Tak ( Bodyguard from Beijing ), the highly enjoyable love letter to 60s and 70s Hong Kong action films has been an audience favorite at film festivals worldwide, winning the Audience Award at the 2010 New York Asian Film Festival. Cheung (Wong Yau Nam) used to be a tough bully as a kid, but he's now an adult stuck in a miserable real estate job. For his latest task, he's sent to help the buyout of a rural village for redevelopment. The only place left that hasn't agreed to the deal is Law's Teahouse, run by old martial artists Dragon (Chen Kuan Tai) and Tiger (Bruce Leung). The two remain at the former martial arts school with their loyal assistant Kwai (JJ Jia) to dutifully tend to their teacher Master Law (Teddy Robin), who's been in a coma for decades. Instead of working with the company-hired thugs - led by old childhood victim Mang (MC Jin) - to take the teahouse, Cheung asks the two masters to teach him martial arts so he can get his groove back. Just before Dragon and Tiger can send Cheung away, Master Law suddenly wakes up and mistakes Cheung for his disciple. The Law Martial Arts School is suddenly revived with Master Law on top, and a fight to save it is about to begin. This edition comes with making of, a music video, and a trailer.

$17.60  $14.49

A father and son living two decades apart team up to solve crime in TVB's 2004 police drama To Get Unstuck in Time. Jumping between the past and the present, the drama revolves around a cop who is able to call his late father in 1984 thanks to a strange time warp, but disaster ensues when they attempt to change the past. Top actor Roger Kwok and popular veteran Hui Siu Hung star as the father-son duo, while Flora Chan covers two vastly different character arches as Kwok's romantic interest. Delivering the goods as an exciting crime suspense series, To Get Unstuck in Time also strikes chords with its depiction of Kwok and Hui's father and son relationship, and the devastating consequences of tinkering with fate. Short-tempered cop Kwong (Roger Kwok), or Morning Sir as everyone calls him, is very serious about his work and taking care of his mother (Kiki Sheung). Kwong's policeman father (Hui Siu Hung) died of a drug overdose two decades ago, and he's never gotten over the shock and shame of the incident. One day he picks up an old mobile phone that somehow connects him to his father Hor in 1984. Not knowing that he's talking to his son, Hor assists Kwong with his cases by investigating in the past and leaving him clues for the future. Kwong also gets help from San (Flora Chan), a detective novel writer who is confined to wheelchair. Though Kwong and San fall in love, she feels that her disability burdens the relationship, and wants to break things off. Desperate to hold on to San, Kwong asks Hor to prevent the accident that crippled her as a child. The next day when Kwong wakes up, the world has completely changed - he and San are now on opposite sides of the law.
